JAMMU, Feb 27: In what could be a good news for unemployed youth, the Jammu and Kashmir Government has so far identified 26,000 vacancies in various departments for filling up in the current year including Gazetted, non-Gazetted and Class-IV.
“Majority of the posts identified for recruitment during the current year are in non-Gazetted cadre and Class-IV while rest will be for Gazetted Officers,” official sources told the Excelsior.
A detailed exercise has been carried out by various Government departments to identify vacancies in different cadres including Gazetted, non-Gazetted and Class-IV and the figure has come around 26000 Class IV & Non Gazetted Posts. However, the exercise is still on in some departments.
Following clearance by the Government, the posts will be referred to the Public Service Commission (PSC) and Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB), sources said.
The recruitment agencies will initiate exercise for filling up of vacancies only after receiving a detailed note from the Government.
“Number of the vacancies might go up slightly as some departments could revise the list in next few days,” sources said.
Few days back, the Government had asked all departments to identify vacancies and submit them to the General Administration Department by March. The GAD will refer vacancies to the PSC and JKSSB by April 1 and the two recruitment agencies will initiate the recruitment process which will be completed in the calendar year.
Similar process, as per the sources, could be taken up in subsequent years with departments finalizing vacancy positions in March and referring them to the General Administration Department which will, in turn, send the vacancies to recruitment agencies by April 1. The posts will be filled within the calendar year.
“All efforts will be made that the vacancies advertised are filled up in the same year with timelines fixed for written tests and other processes,” they said, adding the unemployed youth aspiring for the Government jobs will be well aware in advance about the vacancies for the year and will prepare themselves accordingly.
However, if some vacancies are to be filled up in emergency mode, they will be an exception, they said, adding number of such vacancies will be bare minimum.
The Government had recently issued an order directing all the departments to undertake exercise for current year immediately to meet the timelines and guidelines/regulations so that all vacancies arising out in the departments are referred by March 31.
“The annual calendar will ensure that vacancies which accrue in the calendar year, are referred to Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board and Public Service Commission, as the case may be immediately after start of the calendar year,” sources said.
Describing filling up of 26,000 plus vacancies in Government departments in less than a year as “significant”, sources said this will help the unemployed youth as vacancies pertained to all cadre including Gazetted, non-Gazetted and Class-IV.
