If moon is sighted on April 20, people to observe omitted fast after Eid: Grand Mufti, J&K, Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam
To clear the confusion among people regarding upcoming events during the holy month of Ramadan, scholars of different schools of thought in Kashmir have reached a consensus. They have unequivocally decided to observe Shab-e-Qadar on April 17, 2023. The scholars will make efforts to sight the moon on April 20, and if it is sighted, those who started their first fast on March 24, 2023, will have to make the omitted fasting after Eid. Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam, speaking to the media, said that any decision regarding Eid will be made after thorough consultation with all scholars and the Meteorological Department.
During the hours-long consultation attended by prominent scholars, including Mufti Nazir Ahmad Qasmi and Ghulam Rasool Hami, a joint resolution was passed to seek the release of Mirwaiz Kashmir Moulvi Umer Farooq, Maulana Abdur Rashid Dawoodi, and other scholars currently under detention. Some speakers suggested framing a Ruet exclusive to Jammu and Kashmir, which was welcomed by many attendants to the meeting.
The meeting was supervised by Chief Rector Dar-ul-Uloom Raheemiya Bandipora. The announcement was made by Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam, who thanked the scholars for reaching a consensus.
